Compost Facility Operations

Increase your understanding of compost facility operations in a three day hands-on training program to promote technical knowledge and sound operating procedures for compost facility operators and those involved in large- scale composting operations.

Course Objectives

Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Understand the role of a compost facility operator along with key functions and associated processes within an operating compost system
  • Learn practical means to address operational issues involved in the daily operations of a compost facility
  • Receive training of the entire compost process from receiving the raw material, to curing processes, screening and refining, to storage, packaging and marketing the final compost product.
  • The fundamentals of accident prevention and nuisance control will be covered.

Who Should Attend

This course is intended for compost facility operators, supervisors and managers , public officials involved in solid waste decisions , consultants working with compost facilities and technology service providers and equipment vendors.

Certification Exam

An exam is optional on the final day of training with the option of completing the SWANA or the Composting Council Exam.

The Compost Facility Operations Training is offered in partnership with the Composting Council of Canada.
