Landfill Gas Generation and Control Systems

Course overview:

This course explores the principles behind landfill gas generation from buried waste, examines mechanisms for off-site migration pathways, and discusses effective control measures. Additionally, it will also cover operational concerns related to landfill gas collection and destruction systems.

Designed for both newcomers to the field and those seeking to refresh their knowledge, special emphasis will be given to the occupational health and safety concerns for those charged with ensuring the continued safe operating environment and ongoing public safety for those surrounding a landfill site.

Topics discussed will include landfill gas collection systems basics,  landfill gas fundamentals, landfill gas safety, landfill gas control methods, applicable legislation and ECCC directives.

A virtual tour of a landfill gas system will give participants an opportunity to view an active landfill gas system and ask questions.
